Here’s what you need to know:

The farmers

Many farmers and landowners want to

lease their land for wind energy,

creating a sustainable income stream and making the most of their property – all while providing millions of dollars in new revenue to the county.

The opposition

Organized opposition, led by a group called “Clinton and Jackson County Residents Against Wind Turbines”,

is pushing for extreme restrictions

that would make wind energy development impossible.

The restrictions

The Planning and Zoning Commission is proposing regulations so restrictive that the new ordinance

essentially bans wind in the entire county.

Farmers and landowners are prohibited from wind development everywhere shaded blue in this map of Clinton County.

Wind Energy Jobs

Wind Energy Means Good Union Jobs and Good Wages

“A lot of our members have worked on wind projects. We’ve been involved with the Bishop Hill Wind Farm for almost 20 years and it’s been

a great producer of union wages and benefits, and the community gets the windfall of tax dollars coming in.”

What's Next

County Supervisors will hold public hearings in May and June.

What's at Stake

This isn’t just about wind energy—It’s about your property rights. Every farmer and landowner should have the freedom to use their land to support their family and livelihood. These restrictive regulations threaten that freedom and may even shut down their operations!

We support reasonable regulations that balance a neighbor’s concerns while protecting property rights.

The proposed regulations – especially the noise restriction – threaten those rights and could even be harmful to traditional farming.

What You Can Do

Remind the Clinton County Supervisors that property rights matter.
