We All Deserve the Same Property Rights. No Matter Where We Live.
In Iowa, this used to be simple:
You own your land. You decide what to do with it.
That’s how it should be.
But that's changing.
Some counties are restricting what landowners can do on their own land.
That means:
- Your rights depend on your ZIP code
- What’s allowed in one county is banned in another
- Government decides, not you
And it's not right.
Every Iowan deserves the same rights.
You work the land
You pay the taxes
You own the property
You Should Be in Charge
Not a local board.
Not shifting county rules.
Where Do We Draw the Line?
If one county can take away your rights, what stops the next one?
And the next?
The Bottom Line
This is bigger than any one issue.
It’s about protecting what’s always made Iowa strong.
Pro-Property Rights Legislation – HF 2580
There’s a bill in the Iowa legislature called HF 2580 that protects property rights by making sure every Iowa landowner is treated the same, no matter what county they live in. It sets clear, statewide standards so local governments cannot create a patchwork of rules that strip away a landowner’s ability to use their property. It sets fair, statewide standards for energy infrastructure. In other words, rights won’t change just because you cross the county line.
Your land should mean your choice.
Every Iowan. Same rights. No exceptions.
